Story of Alishan from Malir

I have a son Alishan and we are from Malir, Khokrapar. My son was six years old when a knife injured his eye badly. We went to several hospitals, but unfortunately could not afford the treatment. After 9 months of wandering hopelessly, we took Alishan to the Ophtalmology Ward at Jinnah Hospital Karachi. When we admitted him his cornea was torn, the traumatic cataract was removed and a lens was induced in his eyes. We all were satisfied with the services and the consultation provided by the doctors and the staff at Jinnah Hospital which is running this ward and several others with the help of Patients’ Aid Foundation (PAF). A year later Alishan developed a cataract problem (motia) because of which we had to take him back again. Alishan went through yet another cataract operation, and the operation was a success. I would like to extend my prayers for everyone working behind this humanitarian cause, where masses like us who cannot afford such expensive operations are catered to completely free of cost.

Our eyes are one of the most vital organs of our body and an eye operation is as sensitive. In private hospitals, such treatments are completely unaffordable especially for the majority. In many cases, the person has to suffer eye loss leading to blindness when if not treated properly and at the right time. Patients’ Aid Foundation provides free of cost treatments to everyone and anyone who walks into JPMC Karachi. We are thankful to all those who contributed for this cause by giving zakat and donations to support such causes.

PAF funds and provides free of cost lens & surgeries at JPMC’s Eye Ward to all the poor and needy. Thousands of patients are benefiting from this facility at JPMC. To further support this ward PAF has also appointed several resident consultants for such important medical procedures.
